Teacher Innovation Grant


Attention Teachers in Albemarle County and Charlottesville City Schools!

You are invited to apply for a Teacher Innovation Grant with PEFCA. We want teachers to create and administer innovative, exciting, and creative learning opportunities for students at all grade levels.

Through our passion for public education, we support students in two school districts — Albemarle County and Charlottesville. We want our students to grow and thrive in all academic disciplines by providing resources and opportunities with the help of the community and local businesses.

Criteria for Funding

Teacher Innovation Grants
Grant Range:

Mini Grant: Up to $499
Tier 1: $500 to $1,000
Tier 2: $1,001 to $2,500
Tier 3: $2,501 to $4,500


Before completing this application, please prepare a budget in Excel or Word and a project narrative in Word or PDF to attach to the online application.

Eligibility. Teachers in Charlottesville City Public Schools and Albemarle County Public Schools may apply. Teachers may apply for more than one project.
Creativity. Proposal is imaginative and demonstrates innovative goals, methods, or outcomes.
Student Involvement. Proposal describes how students will be directly involved in, and benefit from, the funded activities.
Evaluation. Proposal clearly explains how the project results will be attained and measured.
Outreach. Proposal outlines plans to share the project with other teachers and to recognize the Foundation’s support.
Impact. The Foundation seeks to benefit as many students as possible.
Budget. Proposal includes realistic, complete, and economical itemized list of expenditures.
Submission. Proposal must arrive on or before the October 31, 2024 12 pm ET deadline to be considered for a January 2025 grant. You will receive a confirmation email from PEFCA.
Grant Award. A PEFCA panel reviews all grant applications and makes decisions by January 1, 2024 for the 2024 school year.
Guideline Compliance. Application must align with ACPS, Charlottesville City Schools, and PEFCA Strategic Plans, and must adhere to the application instructions to be considered.
Final Report. A final report showing how funding was used is requested 90 days after the project ends.
Media. PEFCA requests photographs that represent the project to be used on our website.
Unused Funds. If you are a grant recipient and all the funds are not used as proposed, PEFCA requires such funds to be returned to the organization.
